Woodland Orchid

This version of our Woodland Orchid is made from hand-painted silk and has been embellished with machine embroidery and a scattering of beads. It is a perfect pattern to start with if you are new to stained-glass appliqué.

The pattern includes instructions for an inlaid or reverse applique technique using machine applique and machine quilting. The pattern has also been drawn with a central broken line which can be used as a guide for bias binding applique technique (using a machine or stitching by hand). It can also be used as a design for traditional hand applique.
